J.G. Ballard and the Future

image

James Graham Ballard died a few days ago, one of the greats of the New Wave of Science Fiction, and a great dystopian writer.

Here’s a quote that pretty much sums up the only thing to fear about the Future:

I would sum up my fear about the future in one word: boring. And that’s my one fear: that everything has happened; nothing exciting or new or interesting is ever going to happen again… the future is just going to be a vast, conforming suburb of the soul.

I think about that vast, conforming suburb of the soul, and it chills me to the bone..

New kind of Aliens, or?..

Two separate videos have surfaced by way of Whitley Strieber showing what appear to be stick-figure-like humanoid forms, and I am using the word humanoid in a liberal sense.
The first one shows footage from Fresno, California, and the other one from Santa Rosa de Quives in Peru.

No that’s weird. If this isn’t some traffic inducing – meme generating hoax, then.. WTF?

The Mystery of the Elongated Skulls

The Net is abuzz with the Elongated Skulls mystery, a case almost ten years old, ever since they where discovered in the Siberian city of Omsk during archaeological excavations in burial mounds.

And the story is even older than that, ever since the same kind of deformity was observed by researchers during the 90’s on skulls found in Peru.

In a 1995 photograph by Robert Connoly the skull is compared to a normal human skull. Also, anthropological findings on this skull suggest human as well as Neanderthal characteristics, labeling in an impossibility, since Neanderthals did not inhabit South America.

image

That fact alone makes a strong case against mainstream archaeology claims that the skulls where the result of a ceremonial head-binding since infancy. Furthermore, some African tribes (Mangbetu, Zande) practice head-binding with very different results.

And, now, to the Ancient Connection: Besides Peru, Mexico and Russia, the elongated skulls where first observed in depictions of members of the eighteenth Royal dynasty of Egypt (Nefertiti, Akhenaton and Tut being some of it’s most renowned members).
At first archaeologists believed the elongated skull to be an artists depiction of divinity traits, but that soon proved to be otherwise when the mummies where examined.

image

The elongated skull proved to be a genetic trait shared among members of the dynasty called dolichocephalic head. Deformity or disease was ruled out since the trait was passed to family members by genetic inheritance.

So, where did the dolichocephalic head originate from, appearing in South America, Iraq, Malta, Russia and other parts of the world over the previous century?
Are they the inheritance of the Mittani Kingdom?

Could it be the last remnants of a lost ancient race? Did the giants of mythology really did mate with the daughters of men?

Did the Nephilim really walk among humans until recently? Or did they never really went away?

I suspect our past walks with us constantly, and continues to haunt us until we are forced to make sense of it.

Dinosaur on temple in Cambodia

image Not a real one but a carving of one, namely a Stegosaurus. These fairly large dinosaurs are generally thought to have perished around 150 million years ago.

So what is this one doing in a Khmer temple about a thousand years old, long before the modern day depictions of dinosaurs?

The photo was sent by a reader to All News Web, and raises the old, interesting question: Can a living creature (giant or not) survive unnoticed in the remote regions of earth for, well, ages?

And if it can, how much more remains to be discovered? I am thinking creatures, temples, ancient technology, Atlantis, downed UFO's, you name it. If nothing else, the thought gives you hope that not everything is discovered and accounted for in this corporate-owned world.

Alp-size mountain range in Antarctica

antarctica1280nfmvbgqbuns4

From Reuters:

Jagged mountains the size of the Alps have been found entombed in Antarctica's ice, giving new clues about the vast ice sheet that will raise world sea levels if even a fraction of it melts, scientists said on Tuesday.

Using radar and gravity sensors, the experts made the first detailed maps of the Gamburtsev subglacial mountains, originally detected by Russian scientists 50 years ago at the heart of the East Antarctic ice sheet.

"The surprising thing was that not only is this mountain range the size of the Alps, but it looks quite similar to the (European) Alps, with high peaks and valleys," said Fausto Ferraccioli, a geophysicist at the British Antarctic Survey who took part in the research.

He told Reuters that the mountains would probably have been ground down almost flat if the ice sheet had formed slowly. But the presence of jagged peaks might mean the ice formed quickly, burying a landscape under up to 4 km (2.5 miles) of ice.

The last (obvious) place of mystery. 4Km of ice is thick. Too thick to melt, destroy, burrow, at least for the time being.
A true Terra Incognita, hostile and unforgiving, igniting the imaginations of writers with subzero secrets and hidden civilizations. Where else could an Ancient City millions of years old could have survived intact, if not under the protective polar cap?
I am referring of course to H.P Lovecrafts "At the Mountains of Madness". Holds a special place in my heart.
It could be there, under the ancient, ancient ice. Really. It could be.

And if it isn't, is it really important? No. Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. H.P. was right in so many aspects it makes you wonder.

Mysteries from the Past: Lumley UFO Case

P70 I came across this report and, aside from the fact that it looks reasonably credible, it also holds a great fascination for me, up there with ancient technology and Gods from above. Maybe it is the fact that no reports exist from that time of cover-ups and top secret agencies, except maybe the Illuminati and the Freemasons, but I really don't want to go there...

Heres the case from UfoCasebook:

This particular article tells the tale of a man by the name of James Lumley. We know little about Lumley, other than the Missouri Democrat seemingly finding him credible, but what we do know was that sometime in September of 1865 he was making his usual living of trapping fur somewhere in the mountains on the upper Missouri River, about 75 to 100 miles above stream of the Great Falls of the Missouri.

Just after sunset, Lumley claims he saw a bright light travelling rapidly through the sky in an easterly direction, where it exploded. Lumley reported that he then heard a rushing sound, felt the ground shake, and smelled sulfur in the air. Normally, one would consider this a classic case of a meteorite, but it gets better.

The next day, about two miles from his campsite, Lumley reports that he saw felled trees leading to an object that had partly embedded itself into a mountainside. The object was “rock-like”, and divided into “compartments”, and most notably, it was covered in what appeared to be Egyptian-style hieroglyphs. Liquid leaked from areas of the craft, and glass-like material littered the immediate area.

.....

We don’t know what ultimately happened to Lumley, or if other versions of his account are out there somewhere. It can be reasonably said he probably did not recover the UFO. Does that mean its still out there? A century and a half later?

Lumley gave the location of the crash at around 75 to 100 miles above the Great Falls of the Missouri in the mountains, implying that he probably was upstream in a mountainous area near the river itself. Presuming the Great Falls being at the location of Ryan Dam, built on the largest of a series of falls collectively called the “Great Falls” but only those at Ryan Dam being properly called that, it would place his location in the area of Canyon Ferry Reservoir.

There are indeed mountains in that area, and Lumley’s lost UFO might just still be sitting there, partly buried in a mountainside, with its hieroglyphs perhaps now slightly eroded waiting for some intrepid explorer to find and reveal to the world. Unless, of course, the government or the originators of this UFO didn’t get to it first.

Now, the last paragraph does it for me. It COULD still be there. Stranger things have happened (and happen, regularly). Lost in the thick forest. Forever maybe. Drives me nuts.

The Bloop : Cthulhu Live from Rlye'h

bloopWell, I could not resist. The Bloop, according to Wikipedia:

The Bloop is the name given to an ultra-low frequency underwater sound detected by the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration several times during the summer of 1997. The source of the sound remains unknown.

The sound, traced to somewhere around 50° S 100° W (South American southwest coast), was detected repeatedly by the Equatorial Pacific Ocean autonomous hydrophone array, which uses U.S. Navy equipment originally designed to detect Soviet submarines. According to the NOAA description, it "rises rapidly in frequency over about one minute and was of sufficient amplitude to be heard on multiple sensors, at a range of over 5,000 km." According to scientists who have studied the phenomenon it matches the audio profile of a living creature but there is no known animal that could have produced the sound. If it is an animal, it would have to be, reportedly, much larger than even a Blue Whale, the largest known animal on the earth.[1]

Because the Bloop noise originated near the location of the fictional sunken city of R'lyeh from H. P. Lovecraft's story "The Call of Cthulhu", the Bloop has been linked to Cthulhu by Lovecraft fans

Well, that sends tremors down my Shoggoth-infested spine, but, wait a minute.. Humor aside, larger than a blue whale? Well, that's big.

Having seen Cloverfield lately, I can honestly say that a Rising of the High Priest of the Elder Gods would not be funny. Not one bit funny. Like shitting bricks not funny.

To aid you in the meditative process of such an event, here's Cthulhu Meditation, using the source audio of the Bloop to make you even more effective in your invocation of the Deep Ones.

Fth'aghn!..
