Aokigahara Forest

image
Steadily numbered among the Creepiest Places on Earth, Aokigahara forest, on the foothills of Mt Fuji in Japan, is where people go to die, and where spirits seek comfort. It is so dense that it has areas that have never seen the light of day!
Dear friend Aerosol sent me the link this August, but kept putting it off. Well, here is a nice excerpt:
Aokigahara is a wonder of nature, a place of pristine beauty. That being said, beauty is not what the forest is most famous for.
No, it is most famous as a forest of death. Or, more accurately, a forest where people come to die.
It’s a forest of suicide.
In the past sixty years or so, nearly five hundred people have gone to Aokigahara to end it all….
….
The forest has long been associated with ghosts. One type of ghost in particular: the Yurei. These are the restless dead, spirits who have been torn from life unnaturally. They howl their suffering to the winds.  But maybe that’s simply the winds whistling through the stillness in the Sea of Trees, being mistaken for ghostly moans by frightened and superstitious travelers.
In any case, the Japanese take this idea of Yurei very, very seriously. Yearly sweeps are made of the forest looking for suicide victims. Beyond these, the members of the forestry service go about their daily duties, but keeping a watchful eye out for bodies. Now and then they find one. Many times they’re hanging from low branches, decomposed and gnawed by wild things. They cut the poor soul down and take the body back to the station, to a special room built for the dead. A room with two beds.
See, the Japanese believe that if the body were left in the room alone, the Yurei will scream its agony all through the night. Worse still, the body of the dead will rise up and enter the regular sleeping quarters. To prevent this, someone must share the room with the body.
Spooky, right? I love places where legends are right there, where you feel something is wrong, but cannot quite tell what.
Original story, and also on CNN

UPDATE: Reader Michael kindly posted a link to his personal experience of the Forest and I am posting here as well. Visit http://endofthegame.net/2012/02/20/aokigahara/ and read a thourough account of the forest as well as lots of photos and videos, some with strange shadows/orbs clearly seen.
Thanks Michael!

Hole from Within

image

The hole above appeared in someone’s yard, apparently in broad daylight, and with no one seeing or hearing a thing.

“To me it looked like something blew out of the ground because the grass was folded back, the rocks and dirt were all spewn out into the cul-de-sac and across the driveway,” Sue, who asked not to be identified out of concern that the hole may draw unwanted onlookers and crowds, said…

Officials and experts are also scratching their heads. For now, it appears the small crater that splayed debris across a 100-foot area wasn’t caused by a meteorite. Beyond that, it’s a mystery.

“It’s just really, really weird,” said Jerry Vinski, director of nearby Raritan Valley Community College’s planetarium, who conducted tests on the site. “We dug around and couldn’t find anything. We used metal detectors because all meteors have metal in them, and we couldn’t find anything, large or small.”

Bernards Township Police Capt. Edward Byrnes said whatever hit the front yard left a crater about 18 inches deep and roughly the size of a coffee table.

A State Police bomb squad ruled out explosives, Byrnes said.

There you have it. A War of the Worlds scenario, right in our front yard. Or hers anyway. I enjoy these High Strangeness events, that cannot be categorized and put in neat little Paranormal Boxes.

I wish there were more of them, although I suspect that their nature is what prevents them from ever being reported...

Strange Days

The Internet these days is full of UFO videos, alien videos, Ultra-secret information leaks, conspiracy theories and more. From alien involvement in the Japanese tragedy to full-blown Invasion, it’s all out there.
But alien videos, that’s all the rage right now. Stick aliens, Grays, dead aliens, you name it, in full Technicolor in a monitor near you.
Now, this has two possible explanations:

  1. They are getting more at home, an invasion is imminent, and I need to stock up on food getting ready for the Alien Apocalypse. (and by food I mean Cheese Puffs and Beer)
  2. The Internet Hoaxers Union has actually found a way to monetize these videos and make real money of our gullibility. (has YouTube opened up it’s Partner Program?)

The Internet being the only free and limitless information outlet, does not mean that it is not full of shit. I am reminded of an old saying: “If you keep your mind sufficiently open, people are going to throw a lot of garbage in it”. I forget who said that. Never mind.

Two specimens below: An alien corpse in Russian snow, and a Grey sighting with a lot of “shit” and “fuck” as background noise. Enjoy and do not make up your mind. You DON’T HAVE TO have an opinion about everything..

The Pomare Disk: Alien Origins?

image

An interesting case I came across involves a strange artifact discovered by a Colombian fisherman in the sea.
The object, known as the Pomare Disk, is a perfectly smooth parabolic mirror and displays some strange properties, besides the fact that it was found in 1959!

Some of the properties according to Paul Damon :

  • It is made of multi-layered metal, 12 layers at least.
  • The back, dull black, has a crystalline structure under the black coat.
  • The metal seems to repair itself on both sides! When he tried to scratch it with a coin to take a sample, the scratched disappeared as soon as he looked away.. ( Schrödinger anyone?)
  • The disc seems to be completely indestructible and impenetrable, at least with household tools.
  • When put under sunlight it reaches boiling temperature in 3 seconds!
  • Last but not least, strange white men appeared trying to buy it…..

If it is all true, it seems to be a great find, but I cannot seem to find a follow-up on the investigation, since the original article is dated in 2007, so the possibility of a hoax is not out of the question.

Read the whole piece here (quite lengthy). The article is below the post on UFO reverse engineering.

High Weirdness in Russian Woods

I don’t know what to make of that video, assuming that it’s real of course. There is a floating child and what seems to be a proud parent observing it’s progress.
WTF?
Any guess on this would be plausible. Aliens, Cryptoterrestrials, Sufi Masters, you name it.
Just makes me think what a great tool the Internet is. Just think about it: Back in the “good old days” when someone recorded an unusual video it took months to reach some fringe publications, if the owner of the video was extremely persistent. Now, you just hit the Upload button.
This is the Future, and the researchers dream. Then again, it is also a nightmare to try to sift through all the hoaxes.
Yes, the Upload button works with fake videos too…
